There are hundreds of dog breeds and millions of dogs in the world. Many of them are pure breeds, many are a combination of two purebreds and several breeds are a mixture of multiple breeds.

Interestingly, AKC and other kennel clubs have defined standards for each of the recognized breeds which means, each dog has to meet the breed standards that may be the coloring patterns, skull, height, coat type, tail, and lots of major and minor details.

Apart from the standard or common colors, we sometimes witness unusual colors, markings, or patterns on a dog’s coat that make it look totally different from other dogs of the same breed.

So, we did a quick research on the dogs with the most unusual colors and found some shockingly surprising colored dogs.

Black Golden Retriever:

Yes, you got it right, a Golden Retriever that is totally black in color. Black Golden Retrievers do exist and there is no difference between an actual GR and a Black GR, but just the color, and that too is because of the genetic diversity factor. Here is another theory about Black Golden Retrievers is that they actually are a product of Flat-coated Retriever which were used during the development of Golden Retrievers. Whatever the fact is, a black-coated Golden Retriever would be a treat for eyes.

Interestingly, one of the most popular Golden Retriever crosses- Groodle do also comes in black colors sometimes.

Albino Doberman:

What is the most common color of a Doberman Pinscher you have seen? Most probably, you’d have witnessed a black, black & rust, or red & rust Doberman. But how about a full albino Doberman that even has pink eyes and not a single spot in another color?

According to experts, some Doberman dogs do not have pigmentation because they lack the gene responsible for it. As a result, you may witness a full albino dog that is among the rarest dogs.

Panda German Shepherd:

German Shepherd is one of the most popular dog breeds in the world, in fact, it is among the top 3 breeds for many years. Usually, the GSDs come in black & tan, sable, and grey color patterns but here comes a totally unique patterned GSD- Panda German Shepherd.

The Panda German Shepherd has black and white symmetrical markings around its face due to which it resembles the actual Panda. Apart from this coloring pattern, there is no difference between a common-colored GSD and Panda GSD.

An interesting fact:

There are many breeds that are Unique and are recognized by AKC such as a Dalmatian which has very beautiful black or liver-colored spots on its white coat.

And there is another dog breed Xoloitzcuintli which has a unique hairless coat and it sometimes looks like a dog’s statue.
