Materials:

• Fabric (cotton, flannel, or any absorbent material)
• Elastic
• Velcro or snaps
• Sewing machine or needle and thread

Instructions:

1. Measure your dog’s waist and add a few inches for comfort. Cut a rectangle of fabric to the desired length and width.
2. Cut two strips of elastic, each the length of your dog’s waist measurement. Sew one strip to each end of the fabric, about an inch from the edge.
3. Fold the fabric in half lengthwise, with the elastic facing inward. Sew the sides together, leaving a gap at the top for the tail.
4. Cut a small slit in the fabric where the tail will go through.
5. Cut two small strips of Velcro or sew on snaps to the top of the diaper, making sure they match up when closed.
6. Try the diaper on your dog to make sure it fits snugly but comfortably. Adjust the elastic as necessary.
7. Once you are happy with the fit, sew the gap at the top of the diaper closed.
8. To use the diaper, simply wrap it around your dog’s waist and secure with the Velcro or snaps. Make sure the tail is comfortably through the slit.
9. When the diaper is soiled, remove it and wash it in the washing machine with mild detergent. Hang to dry or tumble dry on low heat.
